Trov Privacy Policy

Introduction

This privacy policy outlines how Trov collects, uses, protects, and manages your personal information when you use our cloud journal service. We built Trov to help you preserve your personal sky memories, and protecting the privacy of those memories is core to our mission.

We only collect the information necessary to deliver and improve our service, and we never access or use your personal cloud collection for purposes you have not explicitly consented to. This policy applies to all Trov mobile, web, and desktop applications.

Data We Collect

How We Use Your Data

• Deliver core Trov services: store your cloud collection, sync across your devices, run cloud type identification, and build your personal sky timeline
• Improve our cloud identification algorithm: anonymized cloud photo submissions (only if you opt-in to contribute to our atlas improvement program) help us make identification more accurate for all users
• Provide personalized features: recommend cloud types to look for in your area, suggest timeline milestones, and surface related sky content based on your collection preferences (you can turn off personalized recommendations at any time in your settings)
• Maintain account security and prevent fraudulent use of our service
• Respond to your support requests and send important service updates (we will never send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt-in to receive them)

Data Storage & Security

All your cloud collection data is encrypted both in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption protocols. Your personal collection is only accessible to you unless you choose to share specific entries publicly or with other Trov users.

We store your data for as long as you maintain an active Trov account. If you delete your account, all your personal data including your full cloud collection is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days of your deletion request. Offline data stored locally on your device will remain until you delete the Trov app or clear its local storage.

We conduct regular security audits and update our security practices to protect your data from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse.

Third Party Data Sharing

We will never sell, rent, or license your personal information to third parties for commercial purposes. We only share your data in the following limited circumstances:

• With trusted service providers who assist us in delivering the Trov service, including cloud hosting providers and payment processors (if you subscribe to Trov Premium). All our service providers are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and are not permitted to use your data for any purpose other than providing services to Trov.
• When required by applicable law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Trov, our users, or the general public
• When you explicitly choose to share your cloud entries to third party social platforms or other external services, in which case the data you share will be subject to the privacy policy of the platform you share to

We do not allow third party advertisers to track your activity on Trov, and we do not serve targeted advertising on our platform.

Your Rights

You retain full ownership and control over all content in your Trov collection. You have the right to:

• Access, review, and edit all your personal information and cloud collection content at any time through your Trov account settings
• Export a complete copy of your full cloud collection, including all photos, notes, and timeline data, in a machine-readable format
• Request deletion of any or all of your personal data, including permanent deletion of your account and all associated content
• Adjust your privacy settings to opt out of location tracking, personalized recommendations, and participation in our atlas improvement program at any time
• Object to processing of your personal data for purposes beyond the core delivery of the Trov service

You can exercise all these rights directly within the Trov app, or by contacting our privacy team using the contact information below. We will respond to all valid requests within 30 days.

Policy Updates

We may update this privacy policy periodically to reflect changes to our service or applicable privacy regulations. We will notify you of any material changes at least 30 days before the updated policy takes effect, via in-app notification or email (if you have provided an email address).

Your continued use of Trov after the updated policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes. You may choose to delete your account if you do not agree with the updated policy terms.
